Role Overview
Apply manufacturing design expertise to help train next-generation AI systems through accurate, real-world mechanical design work. You will create, document, and validate production-ready components and assemblies using FreeCAD or comparable parametric CAD software. No prior AI experience is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and revise detailed parametric 3D CAD models of mechanical parts and assemblies.
- Produce manufacturing-ready engineering drawings, including GD&T and tolerance stack-ups.
- Design for sheet metal fabrication, CNC machining, plastics, and injection molding.
- Conduct CAD validation and quality-assurance reviews to confirm model accuracy and production readiness.
- Prepare clear technical documentation and assembly instructions for AI training reference materials.
- Incorporate technical-review feedback to improve CAD models and supporting documentation.
Qualifications
- At least 2 years of experience designing mechanical components for manufacturing environments.
- Advanced proficiency with FreeCAD or similar parametric CAD software, including modeling, assemblies, and drawing generation.
- Experience with mechanical design, parametric and 3D CAD modeling, assembly design, engineering drawings, CAD validation, quality assurance, and technical documentation.
- Hands-on knowledge of sheet metal, CNC machining, plastics, and injection molding design considerations.
- Strong understanding of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and Design for Manufacturing best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to create production-grade CAD models and assess them against real-world manufacturability criteria.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for precise documentation and collaboration.
Work Terms
- Remote contract engagement.
Compensation
- $40 to $100 per hour.
